Adaptive Athletic Specialists

Founder Stan Roberson founded AAS after a family ski trip to Steamboat Springs to participate in an adaptive ski camp.

Stan was an avid skier and athlete prior to losing his leg in 2001. Stan has been instructing mono-skiing since 2005. He has taught group and private lessons. He leads race camps and has taught for the last 6 years in Aspen during the Shining Stars Ski Week.

CEO - Tina Roberson.  Tina is the mother of two girls. She resides in Yorktown, Virginia with her husband of 28 years and a houseful of furry and feathered babies.  She owns her own small business in Newport News Virginia along with Adaptive Athletic Specialists being very near and dear to her heart.
Tina started this whole venture because her husband is an above the knee amputee, losing his leg to MRSA back in 2001.  Prior to this, he was an avid snow skier and they were both determined to get him back on the mountain.  However, when it came time for him to re-learn how to ski he had to travel very far from home just to find an adaptive program.  She knows firsthand how hard it is to find high quality instructors and good training.  That is why she put a company of the finest and most knowledgeable adaptive instructors and volunteers together to change the adaptive ski world as it is now known.
